VOLUNTEERS ARE THE REASON FOR
OUR SUCCESS! THEY MAY SERVE IN THE FOLLOWING AREAS
Client Intake.
Main duties are greeting the clients, checking ID’s, addresses and
family members, retrieving or creating files and making files available
to interviewers.
Client Interviews. Read previous
interview file notes, write observations on each case sheet, check all
sources of income, fill out vouchers for food and clothing, price items
and record them on the information sheet and provide referrals to other
agencies.
Food Sack. Prepare and distribute
grocery sacks.
Pantry. Sort and stock food.
Food Transport. Pick up food from supermarkets
and other designated localities.
Clothing House. Assist clients with clothing
selection. Receive and sort clothing.
Data Entry: Process case notes and demographic
information.
What the volunteers are saying about
the Center…
Volunteering
at the Cooperative Care Center has brought pleasure to my
life I might otherwise have missed. Although each weekday
may have a different “crew” to interact with,
without exception, members are pleasant and cordial. Over
twelve years, I have grown to know and love them. The work
I do is of my own choice: typing records. Working at my own
pace rather than controlled by a time clock is comfortable
for me. When needy clients fill the waiting area, I pitch
in to help wherever I can. The real payoff is not money, success
or status. The truly important aspect is the feeling of serenity
that comes from having given back something in repayment for
the many blessings received from unknown others. And being
a volunteer has restored my feelings of personal worth and
being a valued
contributor to the world around me.
